Motorbikes

Oh the motorbikes! There are approximately 2 million of them on the road in Saigon alone - who knows how many in the country as a whole. But by and large, this is THE mode of getting around in Vietnam where public transportation is poor or nonexistent, cars prohibitively expensive, and bicycles are so yesterday. The endless ribbon of motorbikes on the streets can flow like water, parting seamlessly for the rocks (people) in its path, or hopelessly tangle in clogged knots amid a cacophony of beeping horns. There is nothing off-limits in terms of what is carried on the frames of these motorbikes either - livestock, a family of four, the family dog... you name it.
