Bakong Monastery

The only Buddhist monastery I had the opportunity to visit on this journey was in Cambodia at the Bakong monastery in an outlying area of Angkor called the Rolous Group temples. The temples are some of the oldest in all of Angkor (7th century), and the monastery is one of the only active monasteries in all of Angkor as well. As with all of my experiences with monks, these young men were incredibly gracious and warmly, curiously, welcomed us into their world. It made me long for more!
